Ndereba win's Boston Marathon
April 18th 2005 - Defending champion Catherine Ndereba triumphed in the
Boston Marathon on Monday, becoming the first woman to win the race four
times. Ndereba pulled away from Ethiopia's Elfenesh Alemu in the last three
miles to win in a time of 2 hours, 25 minutes and 13 seconds.

Paula Radcliffe takes London
April 17th 2005 - In her third
London Marathon in four years, Paula Radcliffe notched up yet another
victory, winning in a womens-only world best of 2:17:42. Paula was in a
league of her own today and won the race by a clear five minutes over
Romanian Constantina Dita, who set a national record of 2:22:49.

Monica Joyce set's masters
record in victory
At the carlsbad 5000; Monica Joyce held off Ceci St. Geme down the stretch
to win the masters race for the third time in four years. Her winning mark
was 17 minutes, 7 seconds, good for a seven-second margin of victory and a
national record for the 46-year-old age group, breaking the old mark of
17:14.
Grandma's Auction for Tsunami Relief
Duluth, MN---In response
to the horrific natural disaster that destroyed hundreds of communities in
Southeast Asia at the end of December, Grandma's Marathon is launching an
online auction to raise money for the Tsunami Relief Efforts. The auction

the online auction will open on Monday,
February 21.
"Our hearts go out to everybody that was affected by the tsunami disaster,"
says Tim Lee, chairperson of the Grandma's Marathon board of directors.

Big Sur International Marathon Wins
Award
The Big Sur International Marathon
shared the stage with America’s best distance runners and triathletes at the
2004 Competitor Endurance Sports Award Banquet in San Diego, CA on February
5, 2005, held in conjunction with Running USA’s Annual Conference.
The Marathon was awarded Event/Race Director of the Year. Race director
Wally Kastner accepted the award and praised the professionalism of the
working Board of Directors and over 2,000 Monterey County volunteers who,
over the past twenty years, have made the Big Sur International Marathon
into one of the major brands in the running industry. |
