Tri Columbia Announces Women's Race
Iron Girl Columbia Women's Triathlon on August 27, 2006 in Ellicott City, Maryland. Columbia and Howard County are the site of the internationally known Columbia Triathlon held in May. This women's-only triathlon has much to offer and is perfect for first-timers and seasoned athletes alike. With upbeat music on the course, Waterford Crystal awards to the Professional and Age Group Overall Champions, and special, limited edition Iron Girl performance wicking shirts sized just for women for all participants.

Samantha McGlone wins The Wildflower!
Samantha McGlone (Can) took this years race with a time of 4:32:59. In second was Heather Fuhr (4:43:38), with Tina Walter taking 3rd in 4:45:55. The Jamba Juice Wildflower Long Course Triathlon is one of the premier triathlons nationally and internationally. The 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run is one of the most challenging courses anywhere.

Marta, World Player of the Year
Brazil's Marta, 23, is soccer's World Player of the Year award for the fourth year in a row. She won the Golden Boot and was elected league MVP with the Los Angeles Sol in 2009 in the revamped U.S Women's Professional Soccer League.

Williams wins Tri  in Bay Islands, Honduras
On a tough and hilly course Susan Williams of USA, defending champion of the race, and bronze medallist in Athens was the female champion of the day with a time of 2:13:07. Laura Reback Bennett was the second place female with another outstanding time of 2:18:39.

Joyce set's masters record in victory
At the carlsbad 5000; Monica Joyce held off Ceci St. Geme down the stretch to win the masters race for the third time in four years. Her winning mark was 17 minutes, 7 seconds, good for a seven-second margin of victory and a national record for the 46-year-old age group, breaking the old mark of 17:14.


Ralphs California Half Ironman
Montreal's Samantha McGlone, an Olympic-distance specialist, pulled off a upset, winning the 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike and 13.1-mile run in 4:28:15. Desiree Ficker finished second in 4:31:28. Carlsbad's Michellie Jones took third in 4:32:44.

Bentley re-writes IAustralia records
Lisa Bentley recorded 9:03:20 to make it four straight wins at Ironman Australia, after the race she required medical treatment, but still managed a big smile on the podium. Short distance specialist Melissa Ashton finished second, with  Belinda Granger in third position.

3/5/05 - Kiwi Jo Lawn has become a three time winner of Ironman New Zealand in the women's section. Lawn crossed the line in just on 9:30:14, with a buffer of over 12 minutes on second place.
